If you have already achieved perfect holiness, this course is not for you. If you are aspiring to live a better, holier life, then give it a try. We will study the great mussar (personal ethics and virtues) literature of Judaism, as together we try and grow step-by-step, day -by-day. The program, to be called Gevurot, is being organized by Amram Abraham, a Rabbinical student at the Rabbinical Seminary of the Deaf in Skokie, and is assisted by Rabbi Jonathan Ginsburg, Director of Esynagogue. Initially there will be two components of Gevurot. There will be a monthly Shabbat service to be held at Rodfei Zedek Congregation in Hyde Park. -5200 S Hyde Park Blvd, (The service will be 10-11:30 Am, and will include the morning service, Torah reading and Haftorah (prophets), sermons and treachings. This will be followed by a pot luck milchik and parve lunch. Following the lunch, for those who wish to explore Judaism for the purposes of possible conversion, there will be a class conducted by Ginsburg and Abraham. The target Congregation are African Americans, but all are welcomed, even if you do not live on the South side!! The first two services are May 21 and June 11.
