Tuesday – October 17, 2006 Jerusalem
Meeting and assistance, drive to Jerusalem for overview of the city and the sheheheyanu blessing. Overnight in Jerusalem
Wednesday – October 18, 2006 Jerusalem
Today we embark on a walk into the glorious Jewish past. We'll visit impressive archaeological remains reflecting Jewish life in Jerusalem from the 1st Temple to the 2nd Temple periods, such as the Burnt House, the Herodian Quarter, and some old synagogues. We'll walk along the magnificent Roman Cardo, with its lovely shops; visit to the Western Wall (Kotel), and on to the colorful Arab bazaar. In the evening we'll go for dinner to a Middle Eastern style restaurant (Kosher of course). Overnight Jerusalem
Thursday – October 19, 2006 Oct 06 Jerusalem
Today we will enter into the world of the Jewish People of the 20th century. Our visit will take us from the Knesset, our proud symbol of the Jewish democratic tradition to Yad Vashem with its exhibition of soul stirring reminders of the tragedy that befell people in the Holocaust. We continue to Mt. Herzl to visit the graves of our heroes who gave their lives for the State of Israel and the modern Jewish nation. We conclude our visit of the New City with the Supreme Court, a reminder that Justice for the entire world will go out from Jerusalem . In the late afternoon and evening you can stroll thru the Ben Yehuda Open Mall for your shopping, and we will make Suggestions for restaurants in the area. Overnight Jerusalem
Friday – October 20, 2006 Jerusalem
Today we'll see the Scroll of Fire, in the heart of the Jerusalem Forest , retelling Jewish history by means of two bronze pillars covered in sculptures. We continue by the scenic route down to the Ayalon Valley , where Joshua once fought the Canaanites and where today on the hill of Latrun, we see the tank museum with its hundreds of tanks from all the battles of Israel . We continue for an exciting visit to Mini-Israel, where we can see all the latest developments of modern Israel and historic ruins of ancient times in the form of exquisite models. Afternoon for rest and prepare for Shabbat. Towards the evening, we proceed to the Kotel for the joyous Kabbalat Shabbat celebrations. We will participate in the traditional

Saturday – October 21, 2006 Jerusalem
We will attend the Sabbath morning service at the Ya’ar Ramot Conservative Synagogue. Service will be followed by a Kiddush (brunch). From there we will go for a visit to the Israel Museum . Free Afternoon.

Sunday – October 22, 2006 Jerusalem
Today, going to the desert, we have a dramatic change of climate, and scenery. We drive through the Judean Desert via Kibbutz Ein Gedi and the Dead Sea to visit Massada. Here we ascend by cable car to the high plateau to see the remains of Herod's palace and the remains of the Jewish People's last stand in the battle against the Romans 2000 years ago. We continue to Ein Gedi spa to for the unique experience of floating on this amazing sea and to enjoy the wonderful health facilities they have there, such as massages, hot sulphur baths and black mud baths. Monday – October 23, 2006 Galilee
We will start the day with a visit to DVI (Dental Volunteers for Israel) clinic where you can see a unique charity providing dental care free of charge to Jerusalem’s most needy children by volunteer dentists from around the world. Then we will depart Jerusalem for a journey to the Galilee . We drive through the Jordan Valley to Beth Shean, a reconstructed Roman city, continue to Bet Alpha to see the beautiful mosaic of a synagogue from the 4th century CE, continue to the Golan Heights for a view of the Sea of Galilee from the Peace Lookout, a spectacular point once used by the Syrian army to shoot down on Israel. We continue to the industrial part of the modern Israel town on the Golan Heights , Katzrin to visit the Golan Winery, one of the top in the country. Overnight Kibbutz Guest House
Tuesday – October 24, 2006 Galilee
We will start the day with a drive through the lush green valleys and high mountains of the most fertile part of Israel . We'll be at one of the sources of the Jordan River , the Banias, with its spectacular water falls. From here we climb to the peak of Mt. Canaan to Safed, the city where Jewish mysticism, the Kabala, developed in the 16th century and today the most important artist colony in the country. We'll continue along Israel’s most northern road along the Lebanese border, past Mt. Meron, famous as the place where Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai lived in a cave for 11 years. Overnight Kibbutz House
Wednesday – October 25, 2006 Tel Aviv
Today we make our way to Acre, to see the impressive Crusader harbors and walk along it sea walls with spectacular views of the bay of Haifa. We drive round the bay to the modern Israeli industrial, harbor city of Haifa , glittering like a jewel on Mt. Carmel . We ascend the mountain to see the Bahai gardens and the panoramic view of the city. We continue to Caesarea the capital of Judea in Roman times, with its great palace of Herod , its hippodromes, theaters, fortification wall and ancient harbor. Overnight Tel Aviv
Thursday - October 26, 2006 en-rout
Today we will discover the pioneering spirit of Tel Aviv, Israel's most modern city filled with inspiring examples of buildings of early 20th century. We'll visit the Diaspora Museum , depicting the rich culture and life of the Jewish People outside Israel . We'll continue to Independence Hall where Ben Gurion announced the establishment of the Jewish State. We'll visit the Palmach museum depicting the historic and heroic activities of this military unit that contributed much to the success of the war of Independence . Towards evening we will stroll around Old Jaffa and its artists shops then continue to our last farewell dinner together. Some members of the group will be departing for a visit to Eilat others will be returning to the US . Bon Voyage, Lehitraot.

Depart Tel Aviv for Chicago via Newark – flight time and schedule to be advised
